Sweltering in the 7th circle...

"Abandon hope all ye who enter herein"

..Or actually who even stay outside. It turns out it is very hot in Salem this afternoon. Also last night, yesterday, and the day before. This is exacerbated by having a new house that has no central air conditioning. Also adding to the heat is the fact that my lovely, sexy, and intelligent wife said last weekend, before the heat, that we should get a fan.

"It is Oregon!", I retorted. "It never gets too hot here."

Three days later, after the outdoor temperature read a sweltering 107, and the indoor temperature a balmy 95, a repentant, shamed, and sweating young man went to Lowe's, Home Depot, and every other store in the town looking for a fan. It turns out that everyone else in the great state of Oregon had the same idea, only they had them 35 minutes before our hero did. Sigh.

Otherwise, the adventure continues. There are patients scrambling for surgery, there are babies clambering to be born, and there are boxes to be unloaded, but we are lounging on the porch because it is too freakin' hot.
