Alicia had a rough night. A couple of times the contractions got so bad that they had to increase the epidural rate. I was able to get more sleep than she did, but she is still somehow completely with-it. I think, as they said in that A&E Pride and Prejudice movie "she has a strong constitution and a hearty countenance, though she is not severe. It's rather vexing to all those ladies of lesser upbringing, who are more frivolous." We did finish the movie, by the way.
This is our new nurse, Leah. She is very helpful, and has a bright and sunny disposition. She brought popsicles.
We have a lovely view of a very beautiful day in Salem. Skies are blue, and the sun is shining. And it is also a very auspicious day to have a baby. If you look closely, you can see the capitol. Also, if you look back soon, maybe you will see the baby!

By the way, Nate, how does your poor, suffering wife feel about you putting up web pages while she's in labor?
Yeah, I was reading this, imagining Alicia suffering through labor while Nathan is tangled up in camera chords, uploading pictures and coming up with witty banter. Don't let those images stop you though. I love real time blogging, and I especially love real time baby blogging. It's almost like we're there.
Most people have to wait to post information about a birth until they can get to home or someplace that they have internet access. Nathan is right at home at the hospital.
It is great to feel included.
Coleen says that now is the time for Nathan to Blog and spend time with the baby in order to let Alicia get some well earned rest.
My wife, though suffering, puts up with pictures of her in labor because she is so doggone good looking, even in labor.
