The Grandest Contest for Victory AND Glory Ever Announced!!!!!

Ahem.

We are delighted to announce that it is time to announce the GRANDEST CONTEST FOR VICTORY AND GLORY EVERY ANNOUNCED. Too many uses of the word announced?? POSSIBLY, BUT WE DON'T CARE!

It turns out that Alicia is pregnant.

OK, VERY Pregnant.

Though delighted to be in her gravid state, we are both looking forward to the arrival of RAISIN CASHEW BAY, our beautiful daughter.

Currently, we are not exactly sure about the time or circumstances of her arrival, but we are very excited about the prospect of both (and less so about the prospect of messy diapers and feedings every 2 hours).

"So," we said to ourselves, "what could we do to include all of our friends and relations in participating in the excitement that we have coming, short of sharing the 2 hour feedings?"

"How about a contest?"

"GENIUS AND EUREKA!"

So that we are all on the same page, Alicia is currently 34 4/7 weeks pregnant and is due on the 27th of January, 2007. The obstetrician didn't give us a time.

Hmmmm, labor. It's so relative. What does "active labor" mean to a dr? If it's where it hurts and you wish you had gotten an epidural in the 8th month, I'm guessing 6 hours. If it's the point where you are uncomfortable and wish there was a graceful or even possible way to back out because you know it's only going to get worse, I say 10 hours.
If she is born on Groundhog's Day will you make her middle name Phyllis in honor of Punxatawny Phil?

For this contest, we plan on using the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology definition (ACOG) of active labor which begins at 4cm cervical dilatation.

Becky Smith (the best best friend ever)

February 2, 2007
12:05 am (about the time we would escape ASU dances)
6 lb 8 oz (I think your pooch is about as big as mine is now at 9 weeks :)
19 inches
7 hour active labor (if Nathan can add DP to your epidural it will seem like 45 minutes, if he added a pound of See's chocolates it would be literal seconds)
For my prize I would like a movie of Nathan during this entire experience. That would be priceless!
